<\/a><\/p>\nThe best way to explore Coney Island is by bike, you can either cycle your own bike or renting a bike here.\u00a0 There are plenty of bike sharing in the park, such as Ofo, Mobike and oBike.\u00a0 There is also a bicycle rental shop at park before entering Coney Island.\u00a0 You can rent your bike from the shop if you have the bike sharing app.<\/p>\n
Since Ofo bike sharing is having promotion this month, I have downloaded the app and enjoy the free ride for this month.\u00a0 Ofo does not need any deposit at all whereas oBike need a deposit of $49 and student get a discounted rate at $19.\u00a0 Yet to explore Mobike.<\/p>\n Scan to Ride<\/strong><\/p>\n Entering the Coney Island from the West Entrance<\/strong><\/p>\n Once you entered the Island, just follow the sign and navigate your jungle trail or beach trail.\u00a0 If you love beach, you can explore the beautiful beach trail.\u00a0 I choose the jungle trail simple it has more shades and very comfortable to ride under the rustic big trees and very windy.<\/p>\n Park Etiquette show no camping and no fishing<\/strong><\/p>\n Main path is the path I choose, plenty of shades and you could enjoy the breeze while cycling!<\/p>\n Beware of you belongings – Monkey Thief<\/strong><\/p>\n Before I enter Coney Island, a friendly runner told me to be careful of my belonging as there are monkeys in the island and may snatch the bag if I leave the bag at the front basket of the bike. So I have to hang my bag at the handle of the bike instead.<\/p>\n At the beach area in Coney Island<\/strong><\/p>\n It was still very early, about 9 am plus and the beach is still quite empty, I believe it will get crowded later as it was a public holiday.\u00a0 The sun was already high up and it was scorching hot and unbearable for me.<\/p>\n You can park your bike aside and walk around the beach area.\u00a0 Try not the block the trail as some part of the trail can be quite narrow.<\/p>\n Some even brought along their own “Jeep” car to paddle, super cool.<\/p>\n History of Coney Island<\/strong><\/p>\n The older name for Coney Island is called Pulau Serangoon or Serangoon Island.\u00a0 I prefer the new name Coney Island ! The island also once known as Har Par Island as it was owned by the Har Par brothers. The brother has built a villa in Coney Island back in the 1937 but now it looked like a haunted house as it felt into neglect after being damaged during the Japanese occupation.<\/p>\n Coney Island Park Habitat Enhancement Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n There is a small garden in the middle of the island with plenty of endangered plant species, all planted by OCBC volunteered staffs partnered NPark staff.\u00a0 OCBC also donated a total of SGD 250,0000 fund to contribute and support this programme.<\/p>\n If you love gardening and plant, you will love this garden which sit right in the middle of Coney Island.\u00a0 Plants and trees are all well labelled.<\/p>\n Walking in the garden make me\u00a0recall of my childhood days \u2013 when we don\u2019t have interactive cyber games but interacting with the nature at parks and gardens which was part of the grown up process.<\/p>\n Bird Watching in Coney Island<\/strong><\/p>\n More than 80 species of resident and migratory birds can be spotted at Coney Island Park and the surrounding forested area.
