Stamford University is about 30 mins drive from San Francisco<\/a>.\u00a0 I always enjoy doing University Tours whenever I travel, checking out their campus atmosphere and architecture.<\/p>\n

\"Stanford<\/a><\/p>\n

When I was in UK, I visited both oldest University-\u00a0Cambridge<\/a> & Oxford <\/a> and Newcastle University<\/a>.\u00a0 In Japan, I visited Kumamoto University<\/a> again, where I graduated many years ago.\u00a0 In Chiang Mai, I also fallen in love with\u00a0Mae Fah Luang University<\/a>, such a peaceful environment for students.<\/p>\n

\"Stanford<\/a><\/p>\n

Hoover Tower<\/strong> is one of the most photograph spot in Stanford University. If you are lucky you will see couples taking their wedding pictures here too!<\/p>\n

The tower is named after 31st President Herbert Hoover who was the very first student at Stanford. Hoover Dam at Nevada State<\/a> was named after him too! You will see Hoover Dam<\/a> on your way to Grand Canyon West if you are traveling from Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

If you go up the Hoover Tower, you will see beautiful San Francisco Bay area skyline.\u00a0 Floors 1-9 are library stacks and floors 10-12 are offices.\u00a0 There is a gallery at the lobby.\u00a0 A small fees is charge per entry for an adult to go up the tower : USD 4.00<\/p>\n

Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Exhibit Pavilion is free entry for public.\u00a0 Materials featured in exhibitions include political posters, photographs, letters & diaries.<\/p>\n

Russian Propaganda Poster :\u00a0farmers and workers are walking towards the peoples from all over the world – U.S.S.R. 1920.\u00a0 There are more inside the exhibit hall.<\/p>\n

Fountain hopping<\/strong> – a yearly activities during freshman orientation. Freshman will have to hop into the fountain and get themselves all wet.<\/p>\n

Stanford students have won medals in every Olympic Games and the University has the world class sport team!\u00a0 Saw a big banner of NCCA Championship upon entering the campus.\u00a0 Tiger Wood is also one of the Stanford alumni.<\/p>\n

Other famous alumni is Google<\/strong><\/a> co-founder, Larry Page.\u00a0 He has the google playground at Mountain View not far from here.<\/p>\n

A large granite sundial encircled by the words “Engineer \u2014 Humanitarian \u2014 Statesman \u2014 Public Servant \u2014 Author, HERBERT HOOVER 1874\u20131964” stands directly in front of the Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Bedford Sentinels<\/strong> is an abstract bronze sculpture on the campus of Stanford University, located near Hoover Tower.<\/p>\n

Campus is about monuments, big trees & acorns!<\/p>\n

Visitor Center<\/strong><\/p>\n

University tour starts here at the Visitor Center, “free”- which covers central campus, the Main Quad (historic & academic enter of campus), Memorial Church, Engineering Quad, White Plaza (student activities area, including the Bookstore, Student Store, Old Union and Tresidder Memorial Union)<\/p>\n

You can also purchase the souvenirs from the visitor center.<\/p>\n

Palo Alto High School, one of the oldest high school in this region, sit next to Stanford University.<\/p>\n

Final thoughts :<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is always fun to visit university and have a university tour if possible. If you have children, the more you need to bring them there, just to inspire them. Stanford University is pretty quiet when I was there because of winter holiday.\u00a0 One of the iconic landmark is Hoover Tower, don’t miss that!<\/p>\n
