We booked our one day tour to Halong Bay from Klook online before departing to Hanoi.\u00a0 The guide picked us up at the lobby of our hotel at around 8.00 to 8.30 am.\u00a0 The total number of the tour members in our group is about 20 members in a mini van, quite comfortable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_130039.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15060 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_130039-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Vietnam : Halong Bay Cruise with Klook Travel\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_130039.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_130039-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_130039-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival at the Tuan Chau Marina Pier, we were told our cruise will be delayed for 45 mins due to over booking.\u00a0 It is kind of scary when you arrived at the marina, you see troops of tourist flooding the whole marina.\u00a0 Our lunch at the cruise was delayed since our cruise will only be ready at 1.45 pm, suppose to board on the cruise at 1 .00 pm for lunch.\u00a0 However we were being compensated with light snacks at the cafe at marina.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_135452.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15062 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_135452-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Vietnam : Halong Bay Cruise with Klook Travel\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_135452.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_135452-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_135452-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At around 1.45 pm, we hopped into the cruise and have our seafood lunch.\u00a0 The meal include, cucumber salad, shrimps, squid, fish (not in the picture), fried pork, deep fried stuff in crab shell &#8211; not crab, stir fried vegetables and fruits and a 1 free drinks -soft drinks or beer.\u00a0The seafood lunch was serving hot, portion was not too big but just right for us.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Halong-Bay-Cruise-Lunch.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15091 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Halong-Bay-Cruise-Lunch-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Vietnam : Halong Bay Cruise with Klook Travel\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Halong-Bay-Cruise-Lunch.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Halong-Bay-Cruise-Lunch-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Halong-Bay-Cruise-Lunch-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The cruise we were in is called Phoenix Cruiser, total member in the cruise is less than 20.\u00a0 All members were coming from the same group in the mini van.\u00a0 These groups of people are coming from all over the world: Korea, Malaysia, USA, Denmark, Poland and Singapore.\u00a0 These day I don&#8217;t find any tourists from Japan but more from Korea.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_142138.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15063 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_142138-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Vietnam : Halong Bay Cruise with Klook Travel\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_142138.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_142138-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_142138-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most of the islands in Halong Bay are limestone. You could do either one.\u00a0 Sampan boat ride is more relax, you just sit there and there is a lady who will do all the paddling for the one hour sampan ride.\u00a0 If you choose to do kayaking, please wear slippers and get an extra set of clothing as you may get wet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180316_144012.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" paddle with her feet while she eats or shooting pictures for us!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Halong-Bay-Cruise-Group-pic.jpg\" when we were on our sampan ride at around 3 pm plus.\u00a0 You can see it from the side of the rocks on the limestone islet.<\/p>\n<p><a wear layers so you can take off the layer when the weather is warm in the afternoon.\u00a0 The weather changes to cool and some light rains so always be prepare and bring along a poncho.<\/p>\n<p><a also sing some Vietnamese songs to entertain us but they are not a great singer compare to the <a href=\"\/wordpress\/2017\/04\/china-find-out-the-secret-to-longevity-in-bama-village-in-guangxi\/\">sampan lady in Guilin,<\/a> who are so good at singing &#8220;mountain songs&#8221; or (Shan ge).\u00a0 However I do admire these sampan lady as they are diligent and constantly pick up the trash if any from the river.<\/p>\n<p><a have been named. The cruise stopped at the harbor and we walked up the cave, a little bit climbing with nice stairs path.\u00a0 In the cave you see nice stalactites and stalagmites form in different shapes, you can use your imagination to spot shapes resemble animals or other things. When I was there I didn&#8217;t see there are colorful lights used, which I would prefer. In Guilin or Yunnan cave, you see the caves are decorated with colorful lights which is unnatural I feel. Some people may like the colorful lighting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/tong-thien-cong-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-15107\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/tong-thien-cong-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/tong-thien-cong-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/tong-thien-cong-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/tong-thien-cong-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Final thoughts :\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Halong Bay looks very similar to my recent trip in <a href=\"\/wordpress\/2017\/04\/china-find-out-the-secret-to-longevity-in-bama-village-in-guangxi\/\">Guilin<\/a>, the surrounding scenery and the boat ride through cave.<\/p>\n<p>Crowds of tourists are quite intimidating especially you see troops of Chinese tourists from mainlands marching towards to marina.<\/p>\n<p>Weather in Mar was terrific, about 21-28&#8242; C.\u00a0Do bring a hat, sunscreen, poncho, layer of jackets, medication and some <strong>insect spray<\/strong>.\u00a0 My body was attacked by bugs, very itchy!\u00a0 Not really sure where the bugs were from, probably from the sampan ride!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Medication<\/strong> :\u00a0 During my trip to Hanoi, one of our tour member who is from Denmark got food poisoning!\u00a0 He was feeling unwell and vomiting throughout the whole trip.\u00a0 Luckily I brought along some charcoal tablets, so I gave him and his vomiting did stop.\u00a0 Anyway, his trip was ruined as he was unfit to go to the sampan boat ride and could not enjoy the seafood meal at the cruise.\u00a0 If you have weak stomach, do not eat the fresh\/raw vegetable served.\u00a0 Many of Vietnamese cuisine serve raw vegetable as the topping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rest Area<\/strong> : There are about one stop\/ a mini break of half an hour during the Hanoi &#8211; Halong Bay road trip.\u00a0 The bus will stop at the designated rest area with clean toilets, more like a souvenir stores\/tourist traps for tourists to get coffee and snacks, clean toilets are also available.\u00a0 Things sold are not cheap, similar and some higher than Singapore dollar or USD.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/affiliate.klook.com\/jump\/activity\/1176-halong-bay-day-trip-hanoi\/?krt=s20&amp;krid=4bf324d6-5eb7-4315-4aa2-83f266c5f11c&amp;adid=15638&amp;af_wid=1904\">Phoenix Cruiser Halong Bay Tour<\/a> include :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bus transfer pick up from Hotel in Old Quarter 8.00 am in Hanoi to Halong Bay (3.5hr) in mini bus for about 20 pax with comfortable seats &amp;
