Not sure you have seen Bixby Bridge in the Hollywood movie, it is one of the most admired bridges in America and has been featured in many movies scenes. I noticed Bixby Bridge was featured in few movies as the backdrop during my 17 hours flight to US.<\/p>\n

The iconic bridge was completed in 1932 for just over $200,000 with parabolic shape of the arch and tall spandrel columns.<\/p>\n

Wooden Structure Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bixby Bridge is the longest concrete arch bridge in California.\u00a0 The wooden structure really make this bridge so unique! Once you stepped out from the car, you will immediately feel this place is a perfect combination of Human creation and God Creation. No wonder millions of visitors stopped by just to have a feel of this great sight!<\/p>\n

Beware of Traffic<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parking can be a bit of challenge here! Be careful of the traffic when you park and reversing the car out. Still the view is worth to pull over and taking few pictures. After all, this is one of the most photographed bridge in America.<\/p>\n

History of Bixby Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some history about Bixby Bridge, it was named after pioneer Charles H. Bixby, a New Yorker who fell in love with the California coast back in 1852. Bixby bought 160 acres of land, maintained the land and established a railroad. In fact, it was Bixby who suggest building a road and bridge along this stretch of land.\u00a0\u00a0Before the opening of the bridge in 1932, residents of the area would have to travel 11 miles inland and could take three days to reach.<\/p>\n

Best time to shoot pictures of Bixby Bridge is at sunset as the sun is not directly behind the bridge. But do expect more traffic during this period.<\/p>\n

Carmel Highland General Stores<\/strong><\/p>\n

This cute little gas station and general store will catch your attention on the Big Sur highway.\u00a0 Stop for a snack if you need one but everything looks the same in any other general stores.\u00a0 The exterior of the cute stores look very pretty!<\/p>\n

Happy Cows at Big Sur Grassland<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will also pass by large group of happy cows enjoying their grass at the Big Sur grassland.\u00a0 The grassland is so huge that I never seen something like this in any other place.\u00a0 Certainly I don’t see this in other part of South East Asia countries.<\/p>\n

Final thoughts :<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you have done Carmel-by-the-sea and still have some time to pass, do drive for another 15 miles to reach Bixby Creek Bridge.\u00a0 It is worth to pull over to check out this stunning architecture.\u00a0 You will not regret it for sure.\u00a0 Get down the car and feel the beautiful scenery!<\/p>\n
