We connected through phone and chat a little while in Japan. I know some start from <a href=\"\/wordpress\/2018\/11\/japan-southwest-honshu-chugoku-cat-alley-of-onomichi-town-hiroshima\/\">Onomichi<\/a> or <a href=\"\/wordpress\/2018\/11\/japan-shikoku-the-most-spectacular-view-on-the-shimanami-kaido-kirosan-observatory-park-imabari\/\">Imabari<\/a>.<br \/>\nAns : We started from Onomichi and took a short ferry over to the park starting point and end at Imabari. (Kirosan has the most spectacular view of Shimanami Kaido for the longest bridge view)<\/p>\n<p>I noticed there are plenty of temporary white tenth set up in the Rose Garden for the cyclists rest area.\u00a0 Everything seems to be very well organised and I see plenty of helpers, volunteers or staffs working very hard on the roadside to direct the cyclists along Shimanami Kaido route.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/20181028_130411.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20631 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/20181028_130411.jpg\" alt=\"Japan : Shimanami Kaido \u2013 The Cyclist Paradise &amp; Interview with my High Schoolmate, Lynn\u2019s Personal Experience as a Cyclist in Shimanami Kaido\" width=\"1024\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/20181028_130411.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/20181028_130411-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/20181028_130411-768x398.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see lemon is one of the &#8220;meibutsu&#8221; famous thing in Seto Inland Sea area so the drinks were served to the tired cyclists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/xian-chin_7.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20659 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/xian-chin_7.jpg\" alt=\"Japan : Shimanami Kaido \u2013 The Cyclist Paradise &amp; Interview with my High Schoolmate, Lynn\u2019s Personal Experience as a Cyclist in Shimanami Kaido\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/xian-chin_7.jpg 720w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/xian-chin_7-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are two places to rent a bike to do Shimanami Kaido, you can rent a bike from Onomichi too but the bridge that connects Onomichi to Mukaishima is for cars only, so cyclists have to take the ferry. Once you reached Mukashima by ferry you can start your cycling. I notice the first long suspension bridge called Inonoshima Bridge don&#8217;t share with cyclists as I didn&#8217;t spot any passing through the bridge when we drove pass the bridges. The cyclists are crossing under the bridge at a level below the road that the car use. However, most of the other bridges crossings are sharing with cyclists and cars on the same level.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Few Interesting bridges along Shimanami Kaido that I have spotted\u00a0and all bridges look different\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tatata Bridge \u591a\u3005\u7f85\u5927\u6a4b<\/strong>\u00a0(below) &#8211; a cable bridge connecting Ikuchijima to Omishima. The steel towers are very high up and shaped like an<strong> inverted Y<\/strong>. Glad that Lynn was able to share her cyclist experience in Shimanami Kaido route here as my experience was only by car ride.
