Jeronimos Monastery is the most stunning masterpiece of Portuguese architecture from the 16th century. Belem is an important neighborhood of Lisbon and full of attractions such as museum and parks. You can spend half or one day at Belem.\u00a0 The most famous Portuguese tart pastries shop called <a href=\"\/wordpress\/2019\/04\/the-most-famous-portuguese-egg-tarts-in-lisbon-portugal-pasteis-de-belem\/\">&#8220;Past\u00e9is de Bel\u00e9m&#8221;<\/a> is also located here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25551 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_151802.jpg\" alt=\"The most visited site at Lisbon Portugal - Jeronimos Monastery\" width=\"1024\" height=\"836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_151802.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_151802-585x478.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Unesco World Heritage Site<\/h3>\n<p>Well, you won&#8217;t be surprised if it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is also one of the most visited sites in Lisbon together with Tower of Belem which is located right opposite.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25552 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_152252.jpg\" alt=\"The most visited site at Lisbon Portugal - Jeronimos Monastery\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_152252.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_152252-585x439.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Housing tomb for Poet Luis Camoes &amp; Explorer Vasco da Gama<\/h3>\n<p>Jeronimos Monastery is housing tombs of some of the famous Portuguese, one of them is poet Luiz Camoes who has similar fame as <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/2017\/07\/self-drive-in-uk-shakespeares-home-town-stratford\/\">Shakespeare in England<\/a>.\u00a0 I came across one of Luis Camoes&#8217;s poem in <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/2019\/03\/10-things-you-need-to-know-before-you-visit-cabo-da-roca-in-portugal-the-westernmost-of-europe-continent\/\">Cabo da Roca, the westernmost of Europe<\/a>. The famous quote inscribed &#8211; \u201cWhere the land ends and the sea begins\u201d. Another occasion, I spotted his statue at Macau China at <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/2019\/03\/top-things-to-do-in-ruins-of-st-pauls-macau\/\">Leal Senator Building<\/a>.\u00a0 Within a year time, I came across this greatest poet several times, both in Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n<p>The other famous Portuguese was Vasco da Gama, his tomb was placed here too.\u00a0 This guy is a famous explorer who was the first from the European country to reach India by sea.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25633 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_144557-1.jpg\" alt=\"The most visited site at Lisbon Portugal - Jeronimos Monastery\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_144557-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/20181224_144557-1-585x780.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Admission Costs<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An individual ticket will cost you \u20ac10 and combination tickets start from \u20ac12. You will notice many of the ornaments are representations of the discoveries brought from the voyages by Portuguese famous explorer Vasco da Gama. The King at that time, King Manuel asked several talented architects to build this masterpiece. When King Manuel died, he also has a place here. Many of tuk-tuk can be seen line-up near Jeronimos Monastery. Tuk-tuks are not cheap at all in Lisbon, it cost about 70 Euros for 90 mins with fun and knowledgeable driver-guide, with 5-6 seats.
