We were in the Gold Coast for a few days and we are not really into beaches so we plan a farm experience at Paradise Country. It is about half hour drive from Surfers Paradise. Paradise Country<\/a> is home to Aussie wildlife and farm experience and the farm is targeting for younger kids I feel. Well, if you have never seen koala and kangaroo before then this might be a great place to check them out.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

There are a number of things may interest you and here are some of them.<\/p>\n

Meet the Animals<\/h3>\n

There are horse, cow, pig sheep, farm dogs, chickens, and ducks as well as Australia’s icons koalas and kangaroos.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

Koalas<\/strong> are cute but they don’t move much and seem drunk. They have no tails but still able to balance well on the tree. Look carefully at their paws and seems very useful for gripping and climbing. Their thick woolly fur protects them from the cold and hot weather, also act as a raincoat to repel moisture when it rains. During our visit, the koalas are all sleeping, probably has been drug. Just kidding, that’s their nature.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

Wombat<\/strong> is the cousin of the koala, they have wide bodies and stubby legs. Wombats are burrowing animals and have a backward-facing pouch which will prevent soil from falling onto its young. This wombat was sleeping too during our visit.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

If you see the Kangaroos<\/strong> jumping around, then it is your lucky day. Not sure why when we were here at the Paradise Country, the kangaroos are having their nap and not moving at all even we bought kangaroo food for them. I visited a farm in Perth many years ago and the kangaroos were so active and frequently came to get food from us.\u00a0 They were cute when they hop with their long hind legs and their hind feet are super huge too.<\/p>\n

\"Australian
\nDingo<\/strong> is an Australian dog, native to Australia. Dingoes can be dangerous as they are only semi-domesticated and some said they are part of wolf. There are fences built so we are pretty safe but please do not put your little hands over the fence.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

Llama<\/strong> look super adorable, very calm and gentle animal. They are from South America.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

There are a number of entertaining shows so do watch out for the time schedule and go in before the show starts.<\/p>\n

Shaun’s Aussie Adventure Show<\/h3>\n

During our visit, Shaun the Sheep is at Paradise Country and kids are so into Shaun the Sheep. Lol. The show is great for younger kids.<\/p>\n

Sheep shearing Show<\/h3>\n

In this show, you are able to see how the woolen fleece of a sheep is cut off. The guy who removes the sheep’s wool is called a shearer and he showed us the traditional way of removing the sheep’s wool and the modern way.<\/p>\n

The woolen fleece was then used for making fun of the audiences. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Eating in Paradise Country<\/h3>\n

There is a restaurant but I would suggest bringing your own food there. We brought our own lunch from Woolworth supermarket. We have gotten a roasted chicken, some prawn, macaroon and drinks.<\/p>\n

Macaroon<\/h3>\n

Bought these macaroons from the local supermarket.<\/p>\n

If you love chili sauce you may want to get a bottle from the local supermarket.\u00a0 Glad to have found ABC chili sauce in the local supermarket too.<\/p>\n

\"AustralianFree Tram Ride<\/h3>\n

Your ticket will include the free tram ride but the ride only takes about less than 10 mins.<\/p>\n

Billy Tea Show<\/h3>\n

What is Billy tea? Early Australian settles brewed their tea in a billy, (a metal can with a wire handle). In order to get the tea leaves to sink to the bottom, the billy is swung back and forth at arm’s length. Then the tea is poured into metal mugs with milk and sugar added.\u00a0 We were given to taste some tea and cakes after the show.<\/p>\n

Stock Horse Arena Show<\/h3>\n

Stockman Show<\/h3>\n

In this show, we are able to see the farm dog work so well together with their master and round up a flock of sheep. We also watch how to throw a boomerang, the flying tool which is made of wood. Used by the Australian Aborigines for hunting.<\/p>\n

Final thoughts:<\/h3>\n

As I mentioned before if you have younger kids and live in the city all your life, Paradise Country Gold Coast<\/a> is a great place to bring them here to experience the Aussie farm life.\u00a0 4-6 Hours is pretty enough to explore this place and the activities here.<\/p>\n
