During my Macau-Hong Kong free & easy trip<\/a>, I got the chance to experience Hong Kong International Airport located on the island of Chek Lap Kok, which largely comprises land reclaimed for the construction of the airport itself.<\/p>\n

HKIA is a huge complex having two terminal (1 and 2). There are more than 100 airlines operate flights from the airport to over 180 cities around the world so expect this is a very busy airport.<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

How to reach HKIA?<\/h3>\n

HKIA can be reached by MTR and taxi and bus. If you have three pax and above, it is better to get a taxi as it is cheaper than MTR. The single ticket for MTR cost HK$100 (USD 13 \/ SGD 17.40).<\/p>\n

Taxi from Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon cost HK$264.90 ( USD 34\/ SGD 46.10 ) and if you have a total of 4 pax, it is cheaper, time-saving and more convenient as you don’t have to pull your luggage and walk to the station.\u00a0 The total duration of the taxi ride is about 30 mins.\u00a0 There are tons of taxi in Hong Kong, we didn’t have to wait too long after we came down from our hotel, West Hotel in Kowloon<\/a>. (West Hotel is super spacious and conveniently located in Kowloon city, affordable price)<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

The Airport Station<\/h3>\n

The airport express takes 24 mins to reach the city center.\u00a0 There are only 5 stops at Asia World-Expo Station, Airport Station, Tsing Yi Station, Kowloon Station, and Hong Kong Station. If you are a solo & budget traveler, taking the MTR is the best choice.<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

Connecting to Mainland China<\/h3>\n

Hong Kong International Airport is the southern gateway to Mainland China. There are cross-boundary buses services connecting cities in mainland China and Macau.<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

Hong Kong International Airport ranked highly for its cleanliness and shopping. There are sufficient clear direction signboards showing you the way.<\/p>\n

Oh yes, do remember to look up to the interior ceiling which displayed the brilliant architecture of shimmering waves.<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

Airport Dining<\/h3>\n

The Hong Kong International Airport is ranked 1st as the best airport for dining in the world’s best airport list 2019.\u00a0 Huge choices to choose from so there is no need to worry if you come to the airport without your breakfast.\u00a0 The choices are vast, such as fast food, McDonald’s, Subway, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai and many more.\u00a0 The food at the airport does not overcharge, similar price range from outside.<\/p>\n

\"HongToo bad we had our breakfast near our hotel before we came to the airport,\u00a0 so we were not able to eat anymore.\u00a0 We end up buying some Hong Kong milk tea, tasted super smooth and delicious.<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

Terminal Train<\/h3>\n

You still need to catch the terminal train that will bring travelers to the departure gates.<\/p>\n

\"Hong<\/p>\n

Final thoughts:<\/h3>\n

You can arrive at the Hong Kong International Airport with an empty stomach as there are many restaurants to choose from.\u00a0 Do come early, dine in one of your favorite cuisines and then shop around.<\/p>\n
