UTS is also known as the University of Technology Sydney is only minutes away from Sydney Chinatown<\/a>. During my high school years in Sydney, I use to go to the UTS library to study on the weekends. I love to do my studies in UTS library because the library offers a lot of quiet seats and most importantly it is conveniently located near Chinatown which means I can just grab my comfort food whenever I feel hungry.<\/p>\n

Ideal for Postgraduates & X-men was here too!<\/h3>\n

UTS is pretty new and only aged 31 years old but its origins are said to trace back to the 1870s. There are several iconic buildings (11 of them) in UTS but I only managed to shoot a few of the buildings here. What’s it like to be a student here? I have no idea! Because it is located so near to the CBD area of Sydney, I think it is more suitable for people who have already started working and intend to do their part-time classes after work (for postgraduates students). I noticed many students in their business suit attending classes in the evenings in UTS since Sydney CBD is just minutes walk from here.<\/p>\n

Side note: Hugh Jackman the X-men is the alumni of UTS.<\/p>\n

No “American Pie”s vibe<\/h3>\n

The campus is nestled in the city of Sydney so the vibes here are pretty strange to me. I don’t feel like it has any university’s vibe but more of the office’s working vibe. I don’t find any spacious hangout area, like green lawn where students can sit and enjoy the sunshine and read books, that’s the ideal picture of a University’s life. Maybe I have been watching too much “American Pie”.<\/p>\n

One good surprise that I found here!<\/h3>\n

Building 8 is also named after Dr. Chau Chak Wing Building (named after an Australian-Chinese businessman and philanthropist) is a business school building. It has been described as “the most beautiful squashed brown paper bag”. I was on my way to catch the Captain Cook Night Cruise<\/a> at Circular Quay, so passed by this brown paper bag building. The building’s curvy structure caught my attention so shoot this picture (below). According to the architect, the design was inspired by a treehouse. What do you think?<\/p>\n

The architect is Frank Gehry, Canadian-American who has many famous creations, just to name some – the Olympic Fish Pavilion in Barcelona, Spain and Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris, France.<\/p>\n

Final thoughts:<\/h3>\n

I have done many universities review around the globe, both in East and West.\u00a0 In the east countries – Kumamoto University<\/a> in Japan & Mae Fa Luang University <\/a>Thailand. The West, such as Australia (USYD<\/a> & UNSW<\/a> & Newcastle<\/a>), UK (Cambridge<\/a>, Oxford<\/a>, Newcastle<\/a>), America (UCLA<\/a> & Stamford<\/a>), Spain (Salamanca University<\/a> – also the oldest in the world).<\/p>\n
