You know how much I love to visit universities and now I am visiting the last university on my Australia road trip; the University of Melbourne. The University of Melbourne is considered Australia’s most prestigious university and having top ranking. Established in 1853, this is the second oldest university after Sydney University<\/a> in Australia.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I love including university campus tours in my itinerary whenever I plan for my travel. I have been to some of the famous Universities in the world, such as the Stamford University<\/a>, UCLA<\/a> in California USA. In Europe, I also visited the oldest University – Salamanca University in Spain<\/a>. Cambridge<\/a> and Oxford University<\/a> in the UK are some of my top favorites as they have Harry Potty’s vibe almost everywhere. Not forgetting Asia, I also visited Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai<\/a>, Thailand<\/a>; a quiet campus located near the mountain and many more. Visiting university campuses can be a lot of fun and you get to check out the faculty, buildings, facilities, and environment here. It gives you a chance to see the daily students life here. If you have young children or teen children, start bringing them to the campus tours and let them imagine how’s life is like when they enter university.<\/p>\n

We saw students are playing football in the open field, it is good to be young and just play and study.<\/p>\n

The main campus – Parkville<\/h3>\n

The University of Melbourne is famous for its beautiful campus, it is made up of 12 residential colleges and the main campus in Parkville combining historic sandstone structures, contemporary architecture, sustainable design, and green lawn.<\/p>\n

A mini bronze bull statue<\/h3>\n

I spot a mini bronze bull statue in the Bulpadock where the large central green lawn is in Trinity College. The mini bronze bull statue is overlooking the lawn where once a grazing ground for the dairy cows that supplied Trinity College with milk.\u00a0 How cute is the cow!<\/p>\n

Lavender in the University of Melbourne<\/h3>\n

This makes the perfect Instagram shot, don’t you agree with the gorgeous lavender garden and the old building make a good backdrop.<\/p>\n

Facilities in the campus<\/h3>\n

With good weather, it is hard not to resist a good basketball game in the outdoor basketball court.<\/p>\n

Gym<\/h3>\n

I love seeing people lift as I am a lifter myself.\u00a0 The gym on the campus looks so pack in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Colorful steps made me think of the rainbow flag for lesbian and gay color.\u00a0 It makes a good spot for another IG photo.<\/p>\n

Campus cafeteria<\/h3>\n

I love the animal prints on the wall in the cafeteria.\u00a0 Similar to the cafeteria in UNSW<\/a>, it also offers various varieties of cuisine, such as Chinese, Japanese, Indian and western.<\/p>\n

Top University in Australia<\/h3>\n

If you are heading abroad for the academic experience, you will be interested to know that the University of Melbourne is the top university in the country. There are other universities besides the University of Melbourne, such as Monash University, RMIT University, La Trobe University, just to name some of the tops in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Why choose Melbourne Univesity?<\/h3>\n

Asian students love to choose Melbourne for many reasons, good city transport links, you don’t have to drive. The tram is just sitting right outside the Parkville Campus. Also, the university is only 15 mins away from Melbourne Chinatown, if you need some Asian meals.\u00a0 How convenient!<\/p>\n

Lots of Open Spaces to hang out<\/h3>\n

The campus is actually so close to the city, it is so convenient. There are so many open spaces for students to hang out on the campus. It looks like a great campus to study.<\/p>\n

Art Building – Art West<\/h3>\n

You will be surprised that the Art West Building (below picture) is a Univesity of Melbourne landmark, not those “old Hogwart buildings”. The faculty had not had a new building in 60 years so a new building was recently built. You should pay attention to the striking facade features images of selected objects from the University’s 23 cultural collections.\u00a0 See from a far distance and don’t go too near to look at the facade.<\/p>\n

Autumn Colors<\/h3>\n

The autumn color is the most colorful season of the year.<\/p>\n

The University of Melbourne is famous for its towering old buildings and majestically high ceiling. The ‘Old Quad’ (old law quadrangle) was a stunning piece and could easily be mistaken as something from Harry Potter’s magical campus.<\/p>\n

Final thoughts:<\/h3>\n

I was very impressed with the campus at the University of Melbourne, nestled in the city but it is also very secluded.\u00a0 I highly recommend anyone to visit Melbourne to include the University tour, especially those who love architecture.<\/p>\n
