Farewell to Schonbrunn Palace<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Vienna to Salzburg still within Austria took us about 3 hours drive. \u00a0When we were in the Vienna freeway to Salzburg, we could still see the Summer Palace -Schonbrunn from afar. \u00a0Goodbye Schonbrunn Palace!<\/p>\n

Alpine Surroundings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Salzburg<\/a> is renowned for its scenic Alpine surroundings. \u00a0We stopped for lunch at a scenic restaurant one \u00a0hour before Salzburg.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The weather was super good that day, sunny and warm and it was just perfect to have lunch in such a nice surrounding. \u00a0Look at the mountain and the lake, I was speechless!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

One funny thing I observed were all the Asian stayed inside the restaurant and all the Caucasian stayed outdoor to enjoy their lunch with plenty of sunshine.<\/p>\n

Mirabell Palace and Gardens – Sound of Music – Unesco<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mirabell is a female name form Italy, a compound of the words mirabile -\u2018admirable\u2018 and bella – \u2018beautiful\u2018. \u00a0The classic movie, the “Sound of Music” was shoot here.<\/p>\n

Things you should search for when you visit Marabell Garden :<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. The Pegasus Fountain<\/strong> – a sculpture of horse, Pegasus.<\/li>\n
  2. The Grand Fountain<\/strong> pool – four groups of figures by 17-18 century famous\u00a0Barogue Italian sculptor, Ottavia Mosto, representing 4 elements: Fire, Air,Earth and Water.<\/li>\n
  3. The Hedge Theater <\/strong>– oldest theaters north of the Alps.<\/li>\n
  4. The Dwarf Garden<\/strong> – 28 dwarves made from white Untersberger marble and is the oldest of its kind in Europe.<\/li>\n
  5. The Rose Garden<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. The Orangery<\/strong> – a palm house.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    My mood was lifted up by the bright and colorful flowers. \u00a0Mirabell Garden is a popular place for wedding ceremonies and the garden is a wonderful location for photographs.<\/p>\n

    Mirabell Palace<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Today Mirabell Palace is used for political business. \u00a0It houses the offices of Salzburg\u2019s mayor and the municipal council. \u00a0The white building in the below picture is the part of the palace.<\/p>\n

    Makartsteg<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Makartsteg is a bridge over the Salzach River in Salzburg<\/a>\u2032s city centre.<\/p>\n

    This is Salzburg modern pedestrian bridge, where you can see lovers locked their padlocks and attached to the fence. \u00a0There is a castle at the background which make this bridge even more romantic!<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

    Makartsteg is open for pedestrians and cyclists only. \u00a0The other side of the view has less building.<\/p>\n

    Trolleybuses in Salzburg<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

    I spotted this tram services in the historical town in Salzburg, they also called as trolleybuses (Obus). \u00a0The Obus system started since 1940, that was almost 70 years ago. \u00a0Just hopped on the trolleybuses and it’s a great way to see the city of Salzburg.<\/p>\n

    McDonald in Salzburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Had a tea break at the McDonald in Salzburg.<\/p>\n

    Mozart’s Birthplace at\u00a09 Getreidegasse<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The below yellow building was the birthplace of the greatest composer, Mozart. \u00a0It is now a museum and opened for the public to see the early life of Mozart. \u00a0Altogether there\u00a0are three floors but Mozart family was lived in the third floor of the building and there is an actual room where you can see where Mozart was born.<\/p>\n

    Mozart’s Residence<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Mozart’s entirely family was moved here as the old place was too small for the big family, The new, more spacious home provided enough rooms to entertain friends and musicians. \u00a0Today, it is also a museum open for public. \u00a0If you have been to the birthplace at 9 Getreidegasse\u00a0<\/strong>then you can skip this one.<\/p>\n

    Street performance<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Give him 1 Euro and you can have a picture with him. \u00a0Solute his guy standing for hours in the square under the hot sun.<\/p>\n

    The Residenzplatz\/Residence Square<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Many horse carriages were waiting to pick up tourists in the Residence Square.<\/p>\n

    This is a striking central square of Salzburg, also known as Residenzplatz. Thousand years ago, this is the place where the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg entertained his guests, the big Resident Square was acting like their front garden. \u00a0The wide courtyard was definitely a good space to hold the Royal Guests!<\/p>\n

    Nowadays, all kinds of events take place in Residenzplatz Square, from rock and pop concerts and festivals.<\/p>\n

    Barogue Fountain at Residence Square<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Fountain\u00a0is considered one of the important and the largest baroque fountain of Middle Europe!<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

    Mozartplatz & Mozart Monument<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This is just a square with a prominent Mozart statue standing in the middle. \u00a0Tourists rushed here to take pictures with the statue and move on.<\/p>\n

    When you talked about Salzburg, you have to visit Mozart Statue, birth place and his residence.<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

    Window Shopping in Salzburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our day end with shopping, it was just a window shopping for me. \u00a0Everything was quite expensive compared to Prague, Krakow and Budapest. \u00a0A cap cost 10-15 Euro in Salzburg whereas I can just get it with 4-6 Euro in Prague or Budapest. \u00a0Souvenirs cost double. \u00a0Many souvenirs shops are opened by Chinese. \u00a0Salzburg has many overseas students living here. \u00a0 My advise is to do more shopping in Prague, Krakow and Budapest if you are in Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n
