Bicycle Kingdom<\/strong><\/p>\n

I discovered there are 3 major rental bikes in Shanghai city, differentiate by their colors, Orange, Yellow and Blue. \u00a0Ofo bike refer to the yellow color rental Bike. \u00a0The rental is cheaper than Mobike, 0.5 RMB for half an hour whereas Mobike is RMB 1. \u00a0China is once known to be bicycle kingdom but now\u00a0many own cars instead. \u00a0However, riding bike in the city of Shanghai is kind of a new trend and a very “in” thing to do now. \u00a0As you can see the bikes are design in bright colors and look quite trendy. \u00a0Riding bike do more good to the environment.<\/p>\n

Haibao\/\u6d77\u5b9d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was walking on the street Century Avenue, Shanghai and saw “Haibao” mascot for 2010 Shanghai Expo on the wall. \u00a0Translation of Haibao is Jewel of the Sea. \u00a0The Haibao mascot look like a human\/ren in Chinese character. \u00a0It has been 7 years past after the Shanghai Expo but the mascot – Haibo still can be seen somewhere in the street of Shanghai.<\/p>\n

People Square\/\u4eba\u6c11 \u5e7f\u573a<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some history background when you get off from the People Square metro station. \u00a0You will see a wall showing Good Eighth Company on Nanjing Road.<\/p>\n

Many years\u00a0ago, the Eighth Company of People Liberal Army was stationed and kept order on Nanjing Road, the most prosperous street in Shanghai. They had done many good deeds so a recognition was given as shown on the wall.<\/p>\n

Ode to the Eighth Company\/\u516b\u8fde\u9882 – by\u00a0Mao Zedong<\/strong><\/p>\n

A melody was also written for the “Ode To the Eighth Company”. \u00a0This song was sung in the army throughout the country and learning from the “Good Eighth Company” became a popular campaign. \u00a0The melody was also written on the wall outside the Peoples Square Metro Station.<\/p>\n

Nanjing Walking Street<\/strong><\/p>\n

To be frank, there is nothing much interest me in Nanjing Walking street. Since this is the most famous shopping streets in Shanghai and one of world’s busier street, I have to come and have a look.<\/p>\n

Nanjing Road is about shopping and eating.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Meat Skewers in Nanjing Walking street – Chuan \/\u4e32\u513f \u00a0<\/small><\/strong><\/p>\n

‘Chuan’ is originally from Xinjiang region of China but it has been spread throughout the rest of China. \u00a0This is a popular street food and product from the Chinese Muslim’s cuisine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I tried some meat skewers on the street. \u00a0I ordered two for RMB 15, one beef one chicken. \u00a0You will not able to find the ‘pork” meat skewers since this is the Muslim’s cuisine. \u00a0Anyway, both tasted delicious.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mountain hawthorn\/sh\u0101nzh\u0101 \u5c71\u6942<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shanzha drinks or shanzha coated with sugar can be seen selling here. \u00a0I find many of the drinks here like to add in some shanzha. \u00a0I know since young we like to eat the\u00a0Haw flakes\/\u5c71\u6942\u9905. \u00a0This is how the Shanzha look like. \u00a0The original color of the Shanzha should be in red, but it has been coated white sugary powder.<\/p>\n

Moon cake with meat<\/strong><\/p>\n

A meat moon cake with egg yolk cost me RMB 10, I find this is quite expensive and the taste? \u00a0Nothing much special.<\/p>\n

A shop selling Chinese Bacon. \u00a0Can you see one of the pig head hanging on the wall? \u00a0I wonder if anyone will bring this ‘pig head’ home?<\/p>\n

Old Shanghai Yogurt Drink<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is one of the most popular drinks in Shanghai. \u00a0In the signboard you can see it written in Chinese, the yogurt can be heated. \u00a0Why not try a heated yogurt in winter?<\/p>\n

Nanjing Road is the world’s longest shopping district, around 5.5km long. \u00a0I took the small train which only cost me RMB 5 to travel to the other end of the shopping street.<\/p>\n

People’s Park \/\u4eba\u6c11\u516c\u56ed<\/strong><\/p>\n

People’s Park is located south of Nanjing Road. \u00a0This park is famous for the blind date corner, which marriage advertisement listing are publicly posted each weekend. \u00a0Unfortunately I was not able to see any umbrellas with marriage posting along the park as it was not a weekend when I was there.<\/p>\n

People gather in the park to play cards.<\/p>\n

It is beginning of spring so some flowers started to blossom in the park.<\/p>\n

Dinner<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mini pork spare ribs<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Seafood boiled in hot water but added chili oil in it.<\/p>\n

Salted duck with sticky rice and chestnut. \u00a0The sticky rice is a bit sweet and it goes very well with the salted duck.<\/p>\n

After dinner, I had a night stroll in the busy Shanghai Street. \u00a0Nothing particular interesting, as I mentioned I am not a city person.<\/p>\n

Pudong Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n

I had a Japanese Ramen in the Pudong Airport before flying back the following morning.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It is always wiser to go to the China’s airport earlier and do the check in because there are so many visitors and\u00a0very long queue. \u00a0I was there 3 hours earlier.<\/p>\n
