The unusual rainfall has also led to a fertile collection of flora and century-old rain tress in the Taiping Lake Garden. \u00a0When I was a little girl, my uncle always brought me here for an evening walk as his wife is from Taiping.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142126.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4283\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142126-1024x401.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"206\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Your trip cannot be completed without visiting Taipeng Lake Garden, it is the first public garden in Malaysia, located near Bukit Larut. It is originally a mining ground before it became \u00a0the first public garden. \u00a0Giant Rain trees also known as &#8216;Angsana&#8217; line the lake when you drove pass, \u00a0 seeing their branches stretching and reaching the water in the pond, make me think back of the good memories when my uncle brought me here when I was little.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/10173694_fb.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4285\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/10173694_fb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the evening, you can see many people jogging at this Lake which is\u00a0surrounded by the lush greenery. \u00a0Nearby the lake, there is the Old Residency of the British and the Raja\u2019s House and army officers\u2019 residences with old architecture.<\/p>\n<p>Having said that, I was disappointed to find this lake is not properly maintained as compared to the past, the beauty has gone quite a fair bit. \u00a0Trees were not properly taken care of and the water in lake is unclear. \u00a0Anyway, I am still happy to make a trip back here to re-collect the good old memory with my uncle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142453.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4212\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142453-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142453-576x1024.jpg 576w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142453-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142453-768x1365.jpg 768w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_142453.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Penang\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Penang is the most populous island city in Malaysia. \u00a0Housing in Penang is not cheap, there were many investors, celebrities and foreigners bought the high rise condominium and hence making the price goes even higher. \u00a0I know Penang is also one of the favorite vacation spot for Japanese and some even bought a condo in Penang as their second holiday home.<\/p>\n<p>When you are in Penang, you have to come to the famous Gurney Drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gurney Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gurney Drive is a deluge of hawker delights and exciting restaurants that come alive at nighttime, giving the unique experience of dining by the sea. \u00a0 There is one huge seafood restaurant, named Bali Hai Restaurant, displayed live seafood at the door, do not go in the restaurant! \u00a0The food is pricey and the seafood was not fresh. \u00a0I remembered the food I ordered was cold when served, looked like they cooked the food earlier and just re-heat and served when customer ordered. The staff was quite imitating and rude as well, a bad experience!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zealand Bakuteh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Try the Zealand Bakuteh in Gurney Drive instead, located right next to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1769828&amp;pcs=1&amp;hl=en&amp;hid=10459\">Evergreen Laurel Hotel<\/a>. \u00a0The tasty bakuteh served in hotpot with brown broth and most staffs were friendly and I remembered there is a long pony tail guy who looked like the owner of the shop, frequently attended to our needs. \u00a0All customers were given a free hot dessert after meal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_190500.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4213\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_190500-1024x828.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_190500.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_190500-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151229_190500-768x621.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Evergreen Laurel Hotel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We stayed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1769828&amp;pcs=1&amp;hl=en&amp;hid=10459\">Evergreen Laurel Hotel<\/a> in Gurney Drive, overseeing the beach just right opposite of our hotel. \u00a0The dinner buffet is worth trying at this hotel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1599526_fb.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4289\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1599526_fb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1599526_fb.jpg 480w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1599526_fb-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1599526_fb-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/1599526_fb-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Short video clip on my Chic Workout in the hotel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The gym in\u00a0Evergreen Laurel Hotel\u00a0is small but well-equipment. \u00a0I had my shoulders training there. \u00a0Nobody was in the gym, I was the only gymrat. \u00a0I pick up bodybuilding 5 years ago and I train consistently 5 to 6 days a week with each body part a day with heavy weight for an hour with different move to hit different angle. \u00a0Weight lifting will burn fat even your training stop after 24 hours. \u00a0Lady can never bulk like men unless we take steroid because lady don&#8217;t produce enough of the men&#8217;s hormone, the testosterone!<\/p>\n<p>Check out the video on my Chic Shoulders Fly!<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; There are also Hindu Peranakan called Chitty and Eurasian Peranakan called Kristang -Christians of Portuguese and Asian ancestry. \u00a0These group of people were normally traders and middleman of the British and the Chinese because they were English educated. \u00a0Many were elites in Singapore, such as the founder of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew who is also Peranakan Chinese.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20151230_162216.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large photo, Chinese signboard is displayed in the Peranakan Mansion. \u00a0To me, this is more of a stunning Mansion rather than a museum.<\/p>\n<p><a but they pray like a Chinese. \u00a0Pork is included in their cuisine. \u00a0One of the famous cuisine is Acar, pickles made from cucumber, turnips, carrots. \u00a0Acar is one of my favorite in the were mixed race between Chinese and Malay, that was the wrong concept which I use to have. \u00a0Some Peranakan Chinese\u00a0are purely Chinese.<\/p>\n<p><a wealthy the Peranakan family lived. There were many of the stunning possession such as the jewelry, the belts nyoya used, the beaded slippers and many other artifacts. \u00a0You also got an insight of the interesting Peranakan custom Kangsar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not many people know about this town, this is the royal town of Perak. \u00a0My mom was born in Kuala Kangsar and every school holiday our family would come visit my relatives here.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Ubudiah Mosque in Kuala Kangsar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a big and stunning mosque in Kuala Kangsar that you have to visit, called Ubudiah Mosque. \u00a0This is the Perak&#8217;s royal mosque which was built in 1913 and ranking on the list of the most beautiful Mosque in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p><a Museum\/Muzium DiRaja\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This museum was named by the first Prime Minister of Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman, called Kenangan Palace. \u00a0Kenangan in Malay mean memories. \u00a0This building used to be the old palace in the old days.<\/p>\n<p>This museum is located near the Ubudiah Mosque. \u00a0I find this Malay architecture extremely impressive!<\/p>\n<p><a Kangsar: Laksa and Double Lion Kaya Toast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Food you may want to try in Kuala Kangsar are the laksa. \u00a0It is slightly different from the Penang Laksa, less sour and the soup base is not as dark. \u00a0I prefer Kuala Kangsar Laksa. \u00a0Don&#8217;t miss out the famous double lion kaya toast near the town area. \u00a0When I was little my grandfather use to bring me for the Poh Tong<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After seeing so many caves in different part of the world, I feel sad when I entered this cave as most of the stalagmite &amp; stalactite were destroyed by human. \u00a0For wasn&#8217;t first for me. \u00a0My cousin sisters brought me here when I was a little girl. \u00a0I still have those fond memories with my older cousin sisters running over all the stiff climbing, during the festive season. \u00a0All tables in the hotels were given a party set for us to celebrate the new year.
