We departed very early in the morning and passed by Aegean Sea, truly beautiful. \u00a0Aegean Sea is located in eastern Mediterranean, a very comfortable climate which is an ideal destination for cruises and holidays. \u00a0The Aegean Sea lies between the coast of Greece and Turkey.<\/p>\n

Sunrise at Aegean Sea<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Aegean sea hold many history and legend, the sea which thousand Greek ships sailed when they set to destroy Troy and rescue the beautiful Helen. \u00a0I gotten this piece of knowledge from Brat Pitt’s movie, “Troy”. \u00a0 \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0No Sign of Helen but beautiful sunrise looking over Aegean Sea.<\/p>\n

DSI Turkey<\/strong><\/p>\n

We passed by the DSI, a water dam in Turkey. \u00a0It is one of the world’s largest earth-and-rock fill dams. \u00a0 DSI is an important water dam which is responsible\u00a0for the utilization of all the country’s water resources. \u00a0Well, this is not a touristic spot, we just happen to pass by on our way to Pergamon.<\/p>\n

Mosque in countryside of Turkey<\/strong><\/p>\n

Passed by a mosques, not a famous one but there are more than 80,000 mosques in Turkey! \u00a0Quite a huge number of mosques!<\/p>\n

Residential Housing in Turkey<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some nice residential housing on the way to Pergamon. \u00a0Very nice design, could\u00a0be the modern home for the Turkish.<\/p>\n

Pergamon<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pergamon is the ancient Greek city 25 km from Aegean Sea. \u00a0It is located in the present town of Bergama, Turkey.<\/p>\n

Healing Centre of Asklepion in Pergamom<\/strong><\/p>\n

Asklepion is an ancient healing complex located at the base of the Pergamon acropolis in Turkey. The Asklepion was a term used in ancient Greece to define a type of temple, devoted to the god Asklepios, which acted as a healing centre. \u00a0These day, we called it hospital or mental hospital.<\/p>\n

Compared to previous Cannakale Troy city, this site has more to offer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Pergamon Tunnel<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Patients walked pass the tunnel and stayed overnight at the cubicles located on either side of the passage. \u00a0In the morning, patients would tell their dreams from the God of Healing to the doctors to help them find out the cure. \u00a0Doctor get the important piece of clue from the patient’s dream, then diagnose with their illness and have treatment here.<\/p>\n

Treatments included psychotherapy, massage, herbal remedies, mud and bathing treatments, surgeries and the drinking of water, which were prescribed according to what dreams the patient had experienced.<\/p>\n

There was even a theatre at the Asklepion, to entertain the patients who would often stay for weeks.<\/p>\n

When you climb up to the stadium, you have a better view. Quite tiring to climb all the way up to the top of the few thousands seat theater which is used for shows as entertainment for sick patients.<\/p>\n

As you can see, the steps up are still good to walk up. \u00a0A victory pose when I was up at the top! \u00a0May be I should seek some mental treatment here – refer to such crazy pose below. \u00a0Wait for my dreams first \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0Then I will tell the doctor so they know what to do with me.<\/p>\n

Ephesus – Unseco World Heritage Site<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ephesus was an ancient Greek city, about 170km, 2 hours drive from Pergamon. \u00a0We arrived here at about 3 pm.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Ephesus, once, the trade centre of the ancient world, a religious centre of the early Christianity! \u00a0This place was used to be the gather place for the rich, the famous and intellectual people.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Ephesus Amphitheater<\/strong><\/p>\n

This great theater can sit up to 25 000 people in the ancient time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Stone carving is everywhere in Ephesus and could take days to know all of them.

This is one of the highlight in Ephesus, showing Goddess Nike. \u00a0Yes, is the Nike sportswear logo. \u00a0You should look for this Nike stone craving, still looking very pretty.<\/p>\n

Since this is the place for commerce and trade, I believe the ruins beside me should be shopping centres and banks. \u00a0Well, sometimes you need to use some imagination to visualize.<\/p>\n

Medusa – go spot the woman with snakes hair<\/strong><\/p>\n

The arch inside depicts a human figure, believed to be Medusa as the hair look very much like snakes.<\/p>\n

Ancient Toilet in Ephesus<\/strong><\/p>\n

Could be a place for public bath and toilets. \u00a0By the way, Turkish bath is very popular and one should try if given the chance. \u00a0It is a deep cleansing and scrubbing the whole body to let the pores open up and cleanse thoroughly. \u00a0Of course not doing it here!<\/p>\n

The Library of Celsus – highlight<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Library of Celsus is one of the most popular attractions in Ephesus. \u00a0It is dedicated to Celsus. \u00a0This style is believed to be the standard architectural form for Roman libraries.\u00a0The library once held over 12,000 scrolls and was the third richest library in ancient times.<\/p>\n

Pergamon Vs Ephesus –\u00a0Which is better?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you ask me, I would prefer Ephesus as it has more complete ruins to see. \u00a0Not only you get to see the Library of Celsus, the most iconic landmark, you also can find interesting craving like Medusa and Goddess of Nike.<\/p>\n

Pergamon is a healing place for the sick patients while Ephesus is a world trade center in ancient time!<\/p>\n

If you only have time for one place, go Ephesus!<\/p>\n
