We walked around the fishing village and found that fishing village is far smaller than I expected nonetheless unique and a fun sea port with a few nice eateries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_115035e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-732\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_115035e-633x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"945\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were quite a lot of fishing boats docked at the port. \u00a0Many stalls were also selling dried seafood, this is good place to buy them as the prices are quite reasonable.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan is a scooter land, you see half of the population riding scooters without helmets. We enjoyed the breathtaking view along the east coast. \u00a0However, it is also\u00a0notorious for its winding road and steep cliffs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tunnel-hualien.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2749\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tunnel-hualien.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tunnel-hualien.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tunnel-hualien-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tunnel-hualien-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tunnel-hualien-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The road curved endlessly, snaking through many tunnels, long and short. \u00a0We also stopover at some scenic of viewpoints to enjoy\u00a0the\u00a0beautiful stretch of coastal line. \u00a0This is one of my favorite drive in the world. \u00a0If you go by train, you will miss out all the beauty.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.625;\">This winding coastal route is called the Suao-Hualien\/Suhua Highway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.625;\">We did not go Taroko Gorge because we have been there few year back by train from Taipei. \u00a0I remembered clearly that we missed out the beautiful coastal line because we were travelling by train.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_124244e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-734\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_124244e-824x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"726\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Arriving Hualien at around 3 pm, weather in Oct is still pretty hot. \u00a027 &#8211; 33\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hualian\u00a0Qixingtan \u4e03\u661f\u6f6d\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We took a short rest in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1769828&amp;pcs=1&amp;hid=523178\">Ola hotel in Hualien<\/a><\/strong>, then headed to Qixingtan beach in the evening to catch the sunset.<\/p>\n<p>Qixingtan is located at the north end of Hualien and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_165447e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-736\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_165447e-1024x792.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"452\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a good stop to admire the pebble beach and the waves. \u00a0By the way, there is no sand. \u00a0A lot of beautiful, all in different size and shape of pebbles, big or small and in different color as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_170154e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-738\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_170154e-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What\u00a0is unique about Qixingtan is the impressive blend of marble pebbles which was polished by the sea. \u00a0Most stone pebbles were very smooth and was nice to touch. Each pebble stone is a masterpiece of our mother earth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_164727e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-735\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_164727e-835x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"716\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Behind me was the magnificent\u00a0Pacific ocean with beautiful coastline and pebble beach. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know why the wave in the picture were pretty calm in the evening. \u00a0Normally\u00a0the wave in the pacific ocean is\u00a0quite rough and ferocious.<\/p>\n<p>Qixingtan also known as Seven star beach in Chinese.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_165521e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-737\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161017_165521e-1024x798.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"455\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This beach simply rocks! \u00a0A must visit beach in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dinner at Hualien city\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/hualien-dinner.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-755\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/hualien-dinner-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/seacoral.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-759\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/seacoral-1024x890.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"508\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We had our dinner at Hualien City which is about 20 mins drive from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1769828&amp;pcs=1&amp;hid=523178\">Ola Hotel Hualian<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0We had Canton cuisine at a restaurant called Chen Taste, the restaurant is in the Hualien city and near the train station. \u00a0\u00a0The restaurant signature dishes was porridge but we wanted some rice so we ordered some rice with pork and coral seaweed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ola Hotel Hualian<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/seaview-ola-.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1177\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/seaview-ola-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What I liked most about this hotel is the location. It is by the sea and from the hotel room, you can enjoy the sea view.
