{"id":828,"date":"2017-02-05T23:51:02","date_gmt":"2017-02-05T23:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/?p=828"},"modified":"2019-01-05T23:57:30","modified_gmt":"2019-01-05T23:57:30","slug":"taiwan-self-drive-round-the-island-day-4-kaohsiung","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/2017\/02\/taiwan-self-drive-round-the-island-day-4-kaohsiung\/","title":{"rendered":"Taiwan Self Drive Round The Island &#8211; day 4 &#8211; EDA World Kaohsiung"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Taiwan Self drive round the island &#8211; day 4 &#8211; Kaohsiung ( 19 Oct 2016)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Day 4 &#8211; Itinerary<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Taitung &#8211; \u00a0Kaohsiung (172km)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klook.com\/activity\/3911-e-da-theme-park-ticket-kaohsiung\/?aid=ff9eb642a5c1568e&amp;af_wid=1904\">E-Da theme park<\/a> &#8211; Greek themed amusement park<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>E-Da Mall &#8211; Biggest outlet shopping mall in\u00a0Taiwan<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1769828&amp;pcs=1&amp;hid=251501\">E-Da Skylark Hotel<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">in Kaohsiung<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Taitung &#8211; \u00a0Kaohsiung (172km)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Driving from Taitung to Kaohsiung is around 3 hours, the roads are quite twisted and many turns but we were rewarded with spectacular scenery of Taitung&#8217;s high mountains, rift valleys and ocean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Taitung County has the largest aboriginal ethnics, Bunan, Paiwan, Rukai, Amis Puyuma, Tao and Kavalan, 7 in totals. \u00a0I noticed some people who I met in the shops, restaurants, few truck drivers on the highway, look a bit different from the ethnic chinese, they have beautiful big eyes and darker skin.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"line-height: 1.625;\" href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/taitung-to-kaoshiung.png\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1213\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/taitung-to-kaoshiung.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"632\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We stopped for Shasha mongoes smoothie and mangoes dessert on the highway. \u00a0The weather was quite hot and humid in Oct so it was very refreshing to have the Taiwan popular mangoes smoothie.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"line-height: 1.625;\" href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_101044.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-829\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_101044-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The shop also sells some souvenirs, food range from Taiwanese mochi, taiwanese century eggs, pineapple cake and others little thing. \u00a0I bought some taiwanese century eggs\/pidan and it tasted very nice and the price is very cheap. I found Taiwanese cuisine widely use century egg as topping in the chilled tofu\/bean curd and in porridge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_101124e-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1214\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_101124e-1-774x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"773\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kaoshiung<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.625;\">We arrived at Kaohsiung around noon but we did not go into Kaohsiung city. We drove to outskirt of Kaohsiung, which was a good choice for us! \u00a0At least we managed to avoid the traffic jam in Kaohsiung city, which is the second populous city, after taipei. \u00a0Kaohsiung also\u00a0has the largest seaport in Taiwan, after Keelung. \u00a0So you can imagine how crowded and busy the city is. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When we do self drive, we prefer to drive away from the big city, so we choose to stay in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1769828&amp;pcs=1&amp;hid=251501\">E-DA Skylark Hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>E-Da Skylark Hotel in Kaohsiung<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The hotel is located at outskirt of Kaohsiung city, a little far from city but there is shuttle bus services to the city &#8211; 30 mins.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>E-Da world<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eda world is a new 90 hectare shopping and entertainment center. \u00a0It also has E-Da outlet mall. \u00a0This place is ideal for family with children, kids can go to the Greek inspired theme park and women can enjoy the shopping paradise in the premium outlets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_162934e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-834\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_162934e-802x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"746\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lunch at EDA world\u00a0Mall<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We had our lunch at the EDA world shopping mall and the food portion was quite big.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_132522.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-832\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_132522-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_132530.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-833\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_132530-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hotels and the shopping mall, premium outlets were all conveniently link to each other. \u00a0Since the weather was too hot, I choose to do some shopping. I found\u00a02 pair of winter boots and one handbag which were all having very good deals. \u00a0Shopping mall was not crowded at all when I visited in the afternoon. \u00a0It was a very nice shopping experience in the biggest outlet mall in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ferries wheels in E-Da World<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our hotel provide complimentary tickets for the ferris wheels in the E-da world. \u00a0We went for a slow\u00a0and a comfortable ride before the sunset, overseeing the vast, beautiful Kaohsiung scenery.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_165537e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-837\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_165537e-892x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"670\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the ferris wheels ride, we had our dinner at the shopping mall again. \u00a0This time we had the Japanese tonkatsu chicken and Unagi set and Japanese Oden. \u00a0The Japanese food in Taiwan tasted quite authentic and original, partly because Taiwan was occupied by Japanese for more than 50 years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_181027e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-838\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_181027e-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_181036e.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-839\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_181036e-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hotel was not crowded when we were there in Oct 2016. \u00a0I guess it was not the peak season but I heard the crowd and the long queue can be pretty much scary in the peak season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_185440e2.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1246 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/thinkerten.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20161019_185440e2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s activity were mainly on the highway from Taitung to Kaohsiung which already taken 3 hours drive in the morning. \u00a0We then spent the rest of the day\u00a0at the E-Da world. \u00a0The best thing of today for me was shopping at the premium outlets!!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Click here to purchase tickets for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klook.com\/activity\/3911-e-da-theme-park-ticket-kaohsiung\/?aid=ff9eb642a5c1568e&amp;af_wid=1904\"><strong>E-Da Theme Park<\/strong><\/a> !<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taiwan Self drive round the island &#8211;
