Sentosa Island Singapore – Planning before you go to maximize your day!

Your Singapore travel would not be completed if you did not step foot in Sentosa Island, the man-made island that was built for fun and recreation. There are plenty of things to do in Sentosa Island and depending how much time you want to spend in the island. I would say you can stay up from 1 – 3 days in Sentosa.

Resort World Sentosa

You can park you car if you are coming by car at Resort World Sentosa  underground car park, the parking fee is slightly higher, be prepared to pay more.  Resort World Sentosa is an integrated resort with casino and holiday resort located on the island.

Sentosa Parking Lot

It is better to buy the ticket on the spot unless there are discount online.  We bought our tickets online but still need to go to the ticketing counter to redeem for our passes.  You can check out the thing you want to explore at Sentosa Funpass then decide what type of passes you going to get.  Avoid Friday and Weekends.

Sentosa Resort World

Universal Studio Singapore (Duration : 1 day)

Universal Studio Singapore

I was here before 10.00 am and the queue is already very long for Universal Studio. I think USS is one of the highlight in Sentosa Island.  People around the globe rush to queue before the gates are open.  You can spend a day inside USS.

Universal Studio Singapore

Best rides in USS are the Mummy and Transformer. Go check them out!

Universal Studio Singapore

Sea Aquarium (Duration : 2 hours)

Sea Aquarium Singapore

The S.E.A Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa is the biggest oceanarium on the world! It is home to more than one hundred thousand sea creatures, spread across over 800 species. It also has the world’s largest viewing panel but it still quite crowded with the tourists. Fishes from “finding nemo” can be all found in this aquarium, such as hammerhead sharks, nemo/the clown fish and Dory/Pacific Regal Blue Tang!

Candylicious Sentosa

Well if you like to do some shopping, there are always plenty of interesting shops, such as Candylicious.

Colorful Cute Merlion Vs the Iconic biggest Merlion in Singapore

You will find two Merlion in Sentosa Island, one colorful smaller one and the other is the iconic landmark in the island, also the biggest in Singapore.

Merlion Sentosa

The 37m-tall Merlion statue took up a lot of manpower to have his personal bath . It was said it took about 10 days to tidy up and look clean again, using jet sprays and chemical wash! Yes, you can also get a ticket to go up to the top of the Merlion and have a view of Sentosa Island.

Merlion Sentosa

iFly Singapore (Duration : 1 hour)

Want to experince flying? Go iFly. Book your timeslot before you go.  The Sentosa Funpass does not include iFly.

iFly Singapore

Wings Of Time Sentosa (Duration : 20 mins )

I have watched the previous show called “Songs Of The Sea” but not sure about the new episode “Wings of Time”. If you have not experience any open sea night show, go try out this one – “Wings OF Time”!  I am sure you will enjoy the flashing lights effects.

Wings of Time

Beaches in Sentosa

Sentosa Beaches

There are three beach stations in Sentosa namely; Siloso beach, Palawan beach and Tanjong Beach. Siloso beach is one of the quieter options, the beach offer calm water and clean sands which is ideal for families with young children. I saw people renting a canoe in the sea, pretty cool.

Segway Sentosa

If you prefer to stay dry, not going into the sea, then you can consider renting a Segway, another great way to explore the whole island.

Segway Sentosa

Plenty of eateries along the beaches, so don’t worry if you get hungry.

Beside Siloso beach, there are two other beaches in Sentosa worth to mention.  Palawan Beach and Tanjong Beach.  Palawan Beach has a pretty cool suspension bridge which is deal for photo taking and also fun to walk on. Tanjong Beach has a more secluded position on the south coast of Sentosa. It is well-known for its parties.

Sentosa Beaches

Skyline Luge Sentosa ( Duration : less than 0.5 hour, not including queue)

Skyline Luge Sentosa

This is very popular and very long queue. Usual wait is more than one hour but we were early so the queue was not bad. The chairlift will bring you up and then you come down from Imbiah Lookout or the other order.  One ride is never enough so many people actually bought multiple rides up and down. You can use Sentosa Funpass for this ride. Oh, beware if you are wearing slippers as it may slip and drop down.  Better hold your slippers with your hands if you are wearing slippers.

Skyline Luge Sentosa

Sentosa Cable Car (Duration : 15 min Ride)

Siloso Beach point station is also the boarding point for Cable Car to Mount Faber.  If you try the cable car, you would enjoy the better skyline of Singapore view.

Cable Car Sentosa

Monorail

You can commute with monorail for free within the island if you are too tired to walk.  Only 4 stations.  In peak periods suck as weekends, the queue for the ride can be very scary and it is better to walk.

Monorail

Madame Tussauds Singapore (Duration : 1 Hour)

Madame Tussauds Singapore

Over here you get see all the celebrity, Lady Gaga is at the door to welcome us. It is quite amazing to see how tiny and petite more celebrity are but of course they are tall but all so thin!

Imaging having a cup of afternoon tea with Audrey Hepburn, she is so petite!

Trick Eye Museum (Duration : 1 Hour)

If you have not been to any trick eye museum, then go try it out.  It is kind of fun and interesting for the first timer.  You would enjoy for sure.

The Sentosa Island is full of wild animals, spotted few peacocks walking around freely.  They aren’t afraid of human.

Sentosa 4D AdventureLand – Desperados (Duration : 20 mins)

Sentosa 4D AdventureLand - Desperados

Deperados is a shooting game, riding on the wooden horse which would move and you have to aim and shoot at the big screen.  I like the game and won third in the chart.  But guess what, only 5 people in the theatre!  My fingers were sore after the firing and shootings!

Sentosa 4D AdventureLand - Desperados

Log Ride 4D roller coaster (Duration : 20 mins)

There are also 4D movie, 4D roller coaster beside the Desperado shooting game.  The 4D roller coaster called Log Ride wasn’t that scary because I closed my eyes throughout the 15 mins ride 🙂

Butterly and Insect Kingdom (Duration : 1 hour)

If you have young children, then this is the place for you guys.  Should be an educational and informative experience for the kids.

Butterly and Insect Kingdom

The Thinker Statue

The Thinker

The Thinker (French: Le Penseur) is a bronze sculpture by Auguste Rodin.  It can be found in almost everywhere around the world.  People love thinkers statue because he is using every part of his muscle to think, observed the statue and the pose, you will get what I mean.

The Thinker

Lake of Dream Sentosa

It has some flashing lights at night and if you happen to be around at night, you can go have a look, nothing too special as it is free.
