Dubai International Airport is the largest airport in the Middle East and in the world by international passenger traffic. Not sure if you are aware, if you are traveling to Europe from Asia, most likely your flight will stopover in Dubai International Airport. It is because it is centrally located in the world and acts as an intercontinental link. Let’s go Shopping
The Duty-free Mall can be fun and lot of things to look at, there is even alcohol which may be a little surprise for me. (Side note, drinking alcohol is illegal in Dubai, except for tourists or residents with an alcohol licence). The duty-free allowance includes 4l of alcohol, 400 cigarettes or 2kg of tobacco and 200ml of perfume.
1. Perfumes – OUD
The Middle East has special love when it comes to fragrance and the region’s signature scent -oud, ( Oud means “from wood” and “stick” in Arabic.) which is one of the most intense, luxurious aromas. The smell comes from agarwood trees that are infected with a special type of mold. It’s an aromatic and complex scent!
2. Camel with men in traditional clothes
Men in traditional Arab clothes with ghutra covers the head, riding camel seems like an icon to represent Dubai.
3. Silver Jewelry Boxes
Because these Middle Eastern jewelry boxes are so cute, why not get one of these boxes back and keep your treasure inside.
4. Patchi Chocolate
This is a luxury brand of chocolate and great for souvenirs to bring back, it is actually originated from Lebanon but gets distributed across the Middle East. Some of the top icons in Dubai were seen used as the wrapping paper for these luxury chocolates.
5. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum books
Learn all about UAE & Dubai through the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s book.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the ruler of Dubai who launches Emirates Airline, the Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah. He wanted to make Dubai one of the world’s tourism hubs which it worked and now visitors rush here to check on the tallest building, Burj Khalifa.
Get one of the copies of “My vision” by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and read about the whole story development of excellence in Dubai while waiting for your next flight.

Gold has been a significant part of the Middle Eastern culture for centuries. Dubai is known to be the city of Gold and people here love gold, it is impossible not to see the gold line up from counter of the gold shop in DXB. This is the real authentic taste of Arabic sweets. Sweets lovers, do not miss AlBaba Sweet at T3 DXB. They have baklawa, kunafa, cakes, chocolates, and fresh dates. They are especially popular during the month of Ramadan as it helps to balance the sugar level after a whole day of fasting.

Eating dates is part of the culture in the Middle East region. Prophet Muhammad used to break his fast by eating one to three dates at sunset. Dates are rich in carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, magnesium, and potassium. Dates here are well packed and with the finest quality, look super huge.

Dear Cynthia,
They have the tallest building in the world, such as Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the shape of the structure is designed to mimic the sail of a ship.
