Welcome to the Waterfront World- Raffles Marina Singapore

Welcome to the Waterfront World- Raffles Marina Singapore

We were supposed to travel to Danang Vietnam in Mar this year but too bad the Covid-19 situation get worse worldwide and hence the travel ban was enforced. We have no choice but to cancel our trip and stay in Singapore.

It was before the circuit breaker on the 7th of April that we went to Raffles Marina. Raffles Marina was in the west of Singapore, very near to the Tiger Brewery factory in Tuas area. We have been to Raffles Marina several times and I have also written a post about “Top 8 things to do in Raffles Marina” two years ago and amazingly that post appeared on the first page of google search.

It is time to re-visit since we can’t fly out of the country.

Welcome to the Waterfront World- Raffles Marina SingaporeRaffles Marina is actually a country club but if you are not a member you can also walk in to enjoy some of the facilities, such as photography, fishing, and dining.

Come during golden hour for Photography

The Raffles Marina Lighthouse is one of the main icons in Raffles Marina, some refer it as Johor Straits lighthouse as it overlooks the Tuas Second Link. The best spot to shoot the lighthouse is to include the Tuas Second Link Highway. And the best timing for photography is during the golden hour that is evening time. That way you can also include the Second Link Highway when the lights up.

Check out the yachts

Owning a yacht sounds like a dream and if that dream still does not come true yet. Then visit Raffles Marina waterfront to have a look at these beautiful yachts, it cost nothing to just see and look. Buying a yacht is one thing and keep it is another challenge. The yearly annual fees certainly is not a small figure.

Book a night with Raffles Marina Resort

If you want a short & quiet gateway during weekends, you can always book Raffles Marina Hotel and enjoy a romantic night with your loved one. And if you are overseas travelers, this hotel might be a good location for you if you intend to go Legoland & Hello Kitty Land Malaysia the following day. This hotel is located at the border of Singapore & Malaysia, pretty convenient to enter Johor Bahru, Malaysia from the second link Tuas causeway bridge.

Can you fish in Raffles Marina?

It seems that visitors can do their fishing there as I saw quite a lot of people fishing freely near the lighthouse. I have a peek at what they have caught and found that they have gotten small fishes, maybe are snappers and groupers.

P.s Some people said it is not allowed to fish and security will chase you away.  I am not sure if anyone can just walk in and do their fishing here?

Check out Forest City from the jetty

You can also view the Forest City from the jetty here. Forest City is a newly built smart and green city by a joint venture project between the China & Malaysian developer, located in Johor Malaysia. We visited Forest City just last year, it wasn’t fully opened yet last year. It has beautiful hotels, golf resorts, shopping centers, duty-free, and an international school. The city planning is very modern and well equipped, exotic plants and flowers were imported from around the world to decorate the garden city. I am quite impressed with the environment in Forest city.  If you have not been there yet, go and have a look.

Dining in Raffles Marina

There are few dining places in Raffles marina. A casual Marina Bistro which serves a good mix of Asian and Western delicacies. You can choose to sit in or outside.

If you want something light and have a few drinks, then dine in Discovery Pub. It has some of the nice finger food and snacks to go along with beers and wine.

We choose to dine in Captain’s Table Chinese Restaurant as we prefer proper Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is located at the second level which overlooks the waterfront of Raffles Marina.  Food are slightly pricy in the Chinese restaurant.

Such lovely photos! You made me want to teleport myself to Singapore right now! My wish is that if I won’t have the chance to visit Singapore, I would want at least my children to experience its beauty.
