Where to stay in Newcastle Australia? Jesmond Executive Villas Review

During our road trip in Australia (from Gold Coast – Melbourne), we made our second stop in Newcastle, a city that I have been living for 3 years when I was a student in Newcastle University. We choose to stay in Jesmond neighborhood because it is very close to the university (just 5mins by car) and it is the neighborhood that I am very familiar with.

Jesmond Executive Villas is located in Jesmond suburb of Newcastle. It is about 20 mins drive to the famous Newcastle beach downtown and 5 mins drive to the University of Newcastle, so you would not be surprised to find this suburb has a lot of international university students and very multicultural.

Let’s find out our 2-Bedroom Villa

Free car park outside the villa.  You enter the unit with a password given by the front desk.  No key is needed.  But it is a little tricky here; after you have keyed in the password and input the #, please “pull in the knob” and then push the door.  We could not open the door at first and had to go back to check with the reception, luckily the reception is only nearby.  The villa complex isn’t big, with a total of 75 guest rooms.

Let’s see what we ordered!

Dongpo pork 东坡肉

We ordered Dongpo pork which is made by pan-frying and then stew the pork belly in dark sauce. Meat is cut into very thick pieces.

Mongolian Beef

Mongolian beef has nothing to do with Mongolian cuisine, it is developed in Taiwan where Mongolian BBQ restaurants first opened.  Mongolian Beef, lamb and pork are very popular among the Aussie and American.  This dish cannot be found on the menu in Asia.
