My Day Trip to Cameron Highlands from Kuala Kangsar
I recently went on a day trip from Kuala Kangsar to Cameron Highlands. The drive is smooth and scenic, taking about 2 hours, making it perfect for a short getaway. Here’s how my day unfolded!
1. Hobbitoon Village – Early Lunch with a Magical Twist
My first stop was Hobbitoon Village, a charming spot straight out of a fairytale. There’s quite a lot of uphill walking, but luckily, there’s a tram to take you around. I even had a chat with the tram driver — turns out they are Orang Asli, the local indigenous people, which added an extra layer of connection to the place. The village is perfect for an early lunch while soaking in the whimsical vibes. Exploring the little Hobbit-style houses and snapping photos felt like stepping into another world!
2. Lavender Park – Relax and Lunch at Domino’s
Next, I headed to the Lavender Park to enjoy the fragrant blooms and colorful scenery. For lunch, I opted for Domino’s Pizza inside the shopping mall near the park. Why Domino’s? Simple — it’s convenient, has easy parking, and I could grab a quick meal without any hassle.
We had 6 people, and the total bill was surprisingly affordable — just over RM90 for 2 pizzas, 12 chicken wings, garlic bread, drinks, some side dishes, and even dessert — their banana pizza. For Cameron Highlands, that’s a pretty good deal for a filling meal!

3. The Sheep Sanctuary – Alpaca Paradise
The final stop of the day was the Sheep Sanctuary, and I made sure to arrive around 4 PM, as it closes at 5:30 PM. While it’s called the Sheep Sanctuary, the real stars are the alpacas! They roam freely, and you can feed, pet, and take photos with them. I spent a good hour enjoying the fluffy animals — it was hands-down the highlight of my day.
