Staying at Holiday Inn Express San Francisco Airport South because I like to stay away from the San Francisco City. It is less than an hour drive to the city and an easy access to the SF airport too!
Since it is an “express” hotel, you will find the services are pretty standard and with reasonable price. You will find Holiday Inn Express usually found in suburbs and besides freeways.
We gotten our key within 5 mins from the front desk despite it was a peak period.
Plenty of places to sit at the lobby.
You can also use the stairs to go up second level.
If you have heavy luggage to carry up, use the lift instead.
A very small open space business center with two PC and a printer.
Small kiosk selling snacks, drinks, batteries & toiletries.
Hotel Room Review
Hotel room is clean and comfortable and bright if you turn on all the lights.
- Room is decorated with several paintings & pictures.
- Air condition is adjustable.
- Floor is clean and dry.
- Come with clean towels and toiletries.
- Light is bright enough.
Wardrobe has few wooden hangers, an iron and an iron board plus a safe box.
I won’t say the room is very spacious but good enough. Flat screen tv, microwave, tea and coffee maker are there for you to use.
- Double lining curtains which block away bright sunlight in the morning.
- A small working station.
Holiday Inn Express usually come with “complimentary breakfast”. Very standard American breakfast which consist of bread, muffin, egg, cereal, coffee, tea, milk, juice, ham and sausages plus fruits.
- Food are sufficient as the few staffs keep refilling for the hungry travelers.
- Food served are hot and fresh.
At the back of the hotel, the are spectacular and it is wise if you go out to have your morning walk.
Nice trees and a beautiful lake with birds and ducks.
I take about 20 mins to have a walk outside and discover a beautiful lake and an old school bus.
Sufficient of parking lot at the back of the hotel near the lake.
Big intersection before you turn in to Holiday Inn Express SF. We missed few times and fail to make a turn to come in to the hotel.
You can drive for few minutes to find few restaurants nearby. I love Sushi Japanese & Korean Restaurant is just within walking distance, 5-10 mins.
Drive for 5 mins further down the road, you will find Chinese Grand Harbor. If you are too tired to walk and drive, just go next door – Original Max’s serving Western cuisine. We had our dinner at Original Max’s, good nice ambient.
Final thoughts :
Staying two nights at Holiday Inn Express San Francisco Airport South with no complaints, room is clean and come with all the basic necessities. Complimentary breakfast is included.
What I like most of the hotel is the ample parking spaces and the lake view at the back of the hotel. You also get to watch the ducks swimming in the lake and watching the sun rise early in the morning. Quite foggy though. Not sure why SF is always foggy.

It sounds like a great place for a stop over if your on a business trip. All the amenities are there and when you need a break there’s that gorgeous lake out back. Love that
It is a good stop for business trip too as it is so close to Silicon Valley and also the airport.
The view around this hotel is lovely. Definitely makes for taking some nice walks and just relaxing at the end of the day. I’m also a huge fan of any kind of breakfast!
The view is quite stunning with a pond with some ducks. You can go check out the sunrise early in the morning. Really relaxing thing to do.
This is the kind of place were I like to stop when I’m traveling for business, I appreciate that there is a nice view to a lake nearby, to go unwind for a moment!
Thanks for your comment, the lake behind the hotel is great to have a morning walk.
Your review for Holiday Inn Express depicts all positive angles of this hotel. And its connectivity to the city San Francisco. I have visited this wonderful city. May be next time I consider this place for my stay.
Thanks for your commenting here. Glad you have also visited San Francisco city, it is really a wonderful city. This hotel is a bit far from the city but if you are driving, it is a good place to stay, as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
I’m not sure how it got it’s name, but the fog in SF is named Karl (there’s even an IG account called karlthefog). I’ve stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before & I really liked it. I don’t need fancy accommodations, just somewhere clean & in a safe location. I enjoyed their breakfast, but they don’t have many options for my sister who has dietary restrictions.
Thanks for educating me about kalthefog. Checked and found out the fog in SF is called Karl, also went into kalthefog IG account to have a look. Interesting discoveries. You are right the SF breakfast has not many options, only the usual choices but then no complain from me since it is “complimentary breakfast”.
This looks like a really great Holiday inn to stay at. How awesome you found a lake to venture out to and explore. A great review.
The lake and its view at the back of hotel really is a bonus to the travelers!
Holiday Inn sure sounds great, and looks absolutely awesome and neat, I love it. Thanks for this insight
Holiday Inn San Francisco Airport South is convenient for traveler who need to rush to the airport. Lots of places to park your car and don’t forget to go to the lake which is lacated at the back of the hotel.
Beautiful surrounding beautiful
Thanks for your comment.
The surrounding was very beautiful, especially pond at the back of the hotel. I have a morning walk around the complex and enjoy the sunrise and fog 🙂
