We stayed in Lux Fatima in Portugal during our spiritual tour in Fatima. I have to say Lux Hotel is a perfect location as it is just within walking distance (5 mins) to check the Church of Lady of Fatima.
The hotel is very quiet, clean and comfortable to stay. When I walk around the hotel, I realized this hotel offers modern apartments and suites. One side of the hotel is used for the apartment which has a kitchen with an oven and fridge. A dishwasher and kitchenware are also provided.

5 Minutes Walking Distance to the Apparition Chapel and Church of Lady of Fatima
When we walked to the Sanctuary of Fatima, there are many souvenirs shops along the way so you don’t realize the distance at all.
Souvenirs Shops
Cork Products is one of the items you get to see almost every shop. Portugal is the largest producer of cork. I actually spotted some cork trees when I was in Portugal. They look similar to the olive tree from far but I was told, olive trees are shorter and cork trees are taller. Some example of cork products are bags and shoes. The brown color bags hanging in front of the souvenirs shops are made of cork.
Hua Ta Li
Not far from the hotel, we spotted a Chinese supermarket named Hua Ta Li.
Room Review
The room includes large windows and provides a private bathroom with free toiletries and a marble basin. Each room has a seating area and entrance hall. (The room has an additional door before you go into the bedroom).
View from the Hotel Room
There is a huge park in front of the hotel where you are able to see it from your hotel room. In front of the hotel, there are free car parks. Loading and unloading of luggage are very convenient as it is just right in front of the car park lot.
Pictures of Virgin Mary and 3 Shepherd Children
Not just here in the hotel room, the restaurants and the whole town of Fatima revolved around the religious history of the town. You see pictures or statues everywhere about the 3 shepherd children and the Virgin Mary.
Bathroom Review
The bathroom has all the basic needs. The bath & shower area is separated by a thick plastic curtain which is neat.
There are one bidet wash and toilet, just like what I have seen in Salamanca Alameda Palace Hotel. I find this kind of bidet wash is pretty interesting and old fashion and still exist in Europe. However, I still prefer the Japanese one-touch electronic toilet (which include the function of bidet wash) works better and so smart! It is also easier to use as you do not need to hop from one toilet bowl to another and do not need to wet your hand at all. The Japanese toilet is fully automated, just with one touch at the buttons in the panel.
Dinner Review
Our dinner is at the hotel and our breakfast too. They serve reasonable buffet and the variety is fair enough.
Main Course
Salad Bar
At the salad bar, you won’t miss the olive oil bottles where the local used it for their dressing. They consume so many olive oil daily just like the Spaniard.
Ham, Cheese & Bread
Flan-Creme caramel
I have the flan as my dessert almost daily during my Spain and Portugal tour. The Spanish called it Flan, it is so soft and I would say the texture is softer than tofu, coated with caramel at the top and it melted in your mouth right away.
Other Dessert in Small Cup
Breakfast Review
The hotel serves a good variety of breakfast, especially their pastries.
Ham/Jamon & Cheese
Pastries
The pastries are all hot from the oven. Most of the size of the pastries are small so you are able to taste all sort of flavor.
Bread Corner
Cereal & Juice & Fruit Corner
My Breakfast
I took a few slices of Jamon since I am in this region, the place to taste Jamon/ham. People said the Jamon are supposed to dissolves in your mouth but I am not sure I didn’t feel that way. The one I had was so chewy and I could hardly swallow it. I am pretty sure it should be Jamon Serrano and not Jamon Iberico. The Jamon Iberico should melt in your mouth since it is so expensive.
Portuguese Egg Tart – Pastel de nata
It is called Pastel de nata here, Lux Hotel Fatima served the best egg tart that I have tasted in my entire life. The size is pretty small, one is never enough. The tart is not too sweet which is perfect and the skin is so crispy.
I have tasted Portuguese egg tart outside Portugal, but I think there is no better place to taste pastel de nata, the Portuguese egg tart than in Portugal. You get the most authentic taste here.
Final thoughts:
Lux Fatimah Park Hotel is highly recommended if you are doing your pilgrimage tour in Fatima as it is only 5 mins walking to the Sanctuary of Fatima. If you are staying here for a few days, you may want to visit the nearby city, a Unesco World Heritage Site, Tomar – just half an hour drive from here.
The hotel is quiet, clean, spacious and exclusive so it is perfect for people who prefer privacy. Do not forget to try the Portuguese tart as the hotel serve one of the best!
