West Hotel Review at Jordan Hong Kong – Spacious room, convenient, value for money!

West Hotel Review at Jordan Hong Kong – Spacious room, convenient, value for money!

Hong Kong hotels are usually a lot smaller compared to other hotels that I have visited in the world. The price is also not cheap as compared to other Asian countries. There isn’t enough land for the people in Hong Kong I guess, the island is surrounded by mountains and very little developable land. Can you believe that Hong Kong was also ranked the most expensive housing market in the world!

In order to find a decent hotel which is convenient and spacious is not easy unless you are willing to pay more. Luckily we managed to book at the West Hotel in Jordan, Hong Kong.  Jordan is located in the central part of Yau Tsim Mong District and nearby you can find Temple Street Market and plenty of eateries and easy access to MTR station.

Check out the West Hotel Review here!

Great Location

The location is at Jordon District and the famous Temple Street Market is within walking distance. It is also very accessible to Austin station, only 5 mins walk and also very near to the ferry terminal in Kowloon if you need to travel to Macau or China, by taxi only 5-10 mins. It is also very near to the high-speed rail station. To airport, it is 35 mins by taxi.

Front Desk

The front desk girl is very efficient, she has checked us in less than 5 mins. But please do not expect smiles from her.  I think Hong Kong people usually do not smile. Smile or not, it did not matter much because we got to check in before 12 pm.  As you know the usual check-in time for the hotel is after 2 or 3 pm.  We were lucky to get the early check-in.  We were tired as we just traveled by ferry from Macau.

Triple Room Review

We book a triple room and to our surprise, it is very spacious according to Hong Kong standard. This is not our first time to visit Hong Kong so we know how small hotel room can be in Hong Kong. The room is very clean and neat which we were so delighted when we check in the room.

There is a sofa and table and window to look out.  Not that the view is very great but in case there is fire, you can always escape from the window.  We stay on the 5th floor so it is still not too high to jump down.

At the entrance, there is plenty of space for guests to put their stuff, even if you have a big luggage, you don’t have to worry there is no space to hide. If you ever stay in Hong Kong hotel, you know what I am talking about,  some hotels in Hong Kong don’t even have space for your luggage and you need to hide it under your bed. There is another window at the entrance too.

Bathroom Review

The shower is separated with a glass door which is quite neat. I know it is small but this is Hong Kong so I won’t complain too much as long as I am able to move my body when I am showering. complimentary toiletries are provided.

There are lift to bring you up and we stay at 5th floor.  There is a triple room on each floor.

The downside of the hotel

I don’t have any complaint about this hotel if you have to ask me then I can only think of there is no breakfast and no place for breakfast inside the hotel.  This is not an issue at all because there are plenty of eateries downstairs and you got to choose what you want to eat and they open from 6 am, yes that early.  Hong Kong people are very hard working, the restaurants start as early as 6 am and closes at midnight.

Nearby Amenities

It is only 5 mins walk to Austin MTR Station and 10 mins walk to Jordon MTR station. Two blocks away from Temple Street market.  There are plenty of eateries once you went down to the hotel. There are Hong Kong style Cha Chaan Teng, Yam cha or Dimsun restaurants, noodles shops and many more, you named it.

Final thoughts:

West Hotel Jordan in Hong Kong is value for money, the room is very spacious for Hong Kong Standard (very important)!  The location is very good as it is only 5 mins to Austin MTR and only 2 blocks away from Temple Street Market.  Downstairs there are plenty of yummy eateries which start as early as 6 am and closes at midnight.

You can’t tell from outside but it’s a really nice and cozy hotel inside. Excellent base for touring the city.

Dear Cristina,

The interior is pretty decent and clean. The word cosy well described the hotel.

Dear Coombe Mill,

Hong Kong hotel room is usually very small, to be able to find such a spacious room in the heart of city is really cool.

What a nice hotel, and right near lots of great places to explore. It looks roomy too, which isn’t always the case when it comes to hotels in the city.

The hotel is conveniently located near few MTR stations, the Austin and Kowloon station. Besides, there are so many eateries downstairs.

Oh wow, that is a fantastic hotel! I remember my room in Hong Kong, it was so tiny and cramped. The bathroom was so small, just a shower over the toilet and a tiny sink in the corner. I know where Temple Street Market is, this hotel had for sure a great location.

Dear Joanna,

You sure know what I mean when I said HK hotel room is very small and cramped since you been there. The bathroom in this hotel is quite spacious too. And yes, the hotel is only two blocks away from Temple street.

Dear Olivia,

The decor is quite simple which is what I like. Most importantly, the room is spacious and this is really not easy to find in HK as housing and hotels are usually very small and expensive.

Inside the room was pretty clean, but I totally get you on small hotel rooms! But look at outside too, I don’t think I even truly understood just how busy Hong Kong is and how close together the buildings can be. Looks like it was a good stay all the same.

You are right. Hong Kong landscape is full of hills and mountains, thus making residential areas very expensive. The hotel rooms are rather small compared to hotels in other countries that I have been in Asia, America, and Europe. Even the hotel in Japan is so much bigger and cheaper compare to HK.

I so agree with you, the room is quite spacious for Hong Kong standard! Plus hotels are too costly here . Glad to know that you had a great time ☺

Thanks, Ana, we have triple sharing. Each floor has a triple sharing. We stayed in 5 th floor and the lift works well too. Glad the hotel is not too crowded too.

I was glad that the front desk girl let us do an early check-in, before 12 pm. As you know the usual check-in time is after 2 or 3 pm. Hong Kong people are pretty efficient, she did the check-in for us less than 5 mins, but lack of smiling face. But its ok, overall, very good experience.

Great review! Love the wall art decals of the city skyline in the rooms. Also love the triple room- we don’t see that a lot here in the US!
